Basic Steps for Spiritual Growth

These steps follow getting our life right with God, either by coming to Him through faith and baptism or by coming back to Him as discussed on the lesson that follows this one in this blog. Or it can be seen as a daily plan for the faithful child of God that is trusting their lives daily to Jesus!
1. Remember how we came to God, through the Word of God and faith. Romans 10:17 “faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” We need to have a DAILY reading and studying plan of the Word of God in our lives. It is very important to allow God to speak to us through the Bible to guide us in our daily lives. Without allowing God to talk to us every day, we will gradually grow away from Him.
2. Remember how much God wants us to talk to Him through prayer.
Matthew 7:7-8 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it , and it will be yours. This page could be filled with scriptures of God asking us to come to Him prayer. Let us remember that we can talk to God about ANYTHING in our lives at ANY time of the day or night. When we in faith trust in His promises, we will receive all of our life’s needs that we lay before God.
3. Remember how God designed His Church, His Family, His Body for us.
Acts 2:47
And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. 1 Corinthians 12:13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body. When we are baptized into Christ, God puts us into His Church, which is His family and body! Romans 8:15-17 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs — heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Jesus Christ died on the cross so we would be in His family! So we would be God’s children and brothers and sisters to Jesus! God wants us close and near to Him! Eph 1:22-23 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. We can only be full and complete in Jesus when we are living with each other in the daily and weekly living and worship with our brothers and sisters in Christ! Hebrews 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching. God feels so strongly about our being together, He has COMMANDED us to not miss worshipping together – not neglecting being together when we as a Church meets. If you want to continue to grow spiritually you need to be with the Church, with other Christians, with your spiritual family to encourage them and to allow them to encourage you!
